Friends of MMPL Online Auction

Friends of MMPL Online Auction

The Friends of MMPL 5 th annual online auction is happening in May/June. Again, it

features the best of Mississippi Mills businesses and organizations and is a nice snapshot

of what is available in our community. This year the items available for bidding include

many of last year’s entries as at least 95% of the businesses and organizations who

donated last few year are enthusiastic about doing it again. We are also digging deeper

into the community and including some new businesses as well.

On May 18 the auction site will open to the public. You may then preview the services and

earmark the ones you want to bid on until June 7. During this time there is no bidding. The

bidding starts on June 8 and runs until June 19 th . For a preview on May 18 th visit our site at

www.32auctions.com/TheBestofMM. Please note that payment is via Credit or Debit card

only. If you don’t have computer access, check out the tech services at the Almonte branch

of the library. They can help.

The Friends online auction makes money to support library programming and last year that

money went towards a fine free library, self-checkout, automatic room booking, and100

lighter weight chairs and dollies to make it easier for library staff to set up and take down

chairs for the many in-house library events.

Beyond the financial gain for the library, the auction also serves the community. With

17,000 hits on the auction site, local businesses and organizations get 5 weeks of free

advertising. New businesses get their name and services out there, not only on the auction

site but also on our social media posts throughout the auction. Bidders get to know local

businesses and organizations which promotes shopping locally. Connections are made and

everyone wins. So, be sure to log into the auction site and check out the services available

for bidding.

The Perfect Time

The Perfect Time

The Perfect Time is a funny, passionate and relatable musical that follows Gen-X professionals preparing for a high-school reunion while their kids stare down graduation.

Kate, a high-powered over-achiever, is butting heads with her talented and moody daughter, Ruby, who is about to graduate from high school. Ruby is determined to go to art college, but her mother insists she study something ‘practical’. Husband John, an English professor who dreams of being a famous writer, is trying to keep the peace. Despite being on the verge of burn-out, Kate decides to organize their high-school reunion. Things get complicated when John’s glamourous high school sweetheart, Lucy, returns to town unexpectedly and offers to help. What could possibly go wrong?

Tensions rise as both generations grapple with how and when to be true to themselves and follow their hearts. Is there any such thing as ‘the perfect time'?

This new Canadian musical by James and Kelly Torck is directed by Kris Riendeau. Presented by Humm Team Productions and The 20 Bureau.

Godspell

Every act of love is an act of courage.

In this reimagining of Godspell, the focus shifts from being taught what to believe to learning how to listen. Through song, story, and ensemble play, the cast explores how light moves through a community when no single voice dominates.

Rooted in attunement, harmony, and shared experience, this production offers a fresh, inclusive approach to a beloved musical — joyful, thoughtful, and grounded in connection.

Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak

Music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz

Originally produced on the New York Stage by Edgar Lansbury, Stuart Duncan & Joseph Beruh

Shattered

While training a new member of staff, four museum employees touch a mysterious, ancient vase that sends them tumbling through time and myth. Both comedy and drama ensue as the intrepid researchers risk their lives to find the missing pieces that are scattered throughout history. Will they be able to reassemble the vase, or will their efforts be lost to time?

The students at Almonte & District High School have worked hard to create an original production that explores stories from throughout history and legend. Following the traditions of devised theatre and collective creation, this production is driven by student voice and is entirely student-led. All the production members— onstage and off— have collaborated to bring story, myth, and history to life on stage.

🎻 The Strings of the Violin

An original play by award-winning Canadian author and playwright Alisse Lee Goldenberg, The Strings of the Violin tells the story of Jewish children during WWII who, amidst fear and uncertainty, turn to imagination and folklore to find hope. By creating and enacting a play of their own, they transform fear into courage and despair into resilience. Blending history, Jewish folklore, and the healing power of theatre, this piece is both moving and inspiring. Education packages and special group rates available!

3. Regenerative Practices: Learn how to mimic mother earth’s natural processes, grow in a way that supports that ecosystem rather than trying to control it, turn waste into food, and create a no-till permanent bed that improves the health of you and your family along with the health of the environment.

New Year’s Read It Yourself Tarot Workshop

New Year’s Read it Yourself Tarot Workshop

Start 2026 with new skills for the year ahead and a pause for self-reflection at the turn of the year.

This experiential workshop will be motivated by curiosity, not mastery, as we shift our attention from content to process. We will explore the 78-card tarot deck starting with the Fool’s journey and ending with the court cards of the four suits.

We will begin the day reading single cards from multiple perspectives and build to two, three, and multiple card spreads. After sunset, the day will close with a 13 card reading for the year to come.
