At Equator, we have been roasting, delivering, and serving fresh, fair-trade, organic coffee since 1998 in the Ottawa Valley. Founded by Craig and Amber Hall with the goal of making a difference globally and locally, the name was chosen for a reason: to ‘Equate’ the benefit of drinking coffee, not just for the consumer but for all the people along the way, from our staff who pack and serve it- to the farmers who grow it.

  • Gilligallou Bird

After years of experimenting and investigation, we concluded that traditionally, most birdseed found in the marketplace was of poor quality, randomly filled and held a high percentage of filler. Not only was the majority of seed low in food value for the birds, but it, in turn, was becoming of very poor value to the consumer.

We decided we were going to change that.

The blends carried by Gilligallou Bird are based on the study of birds, using 100% seed. No fillers, no weed seed, no grass seed, no wheat seed, non-GMO and pesticide-free. The goal is; to bring back a very high food value to your birds, open a wider variety of species to your backyard, and give our clients the best value and enjoyment from their seed purchase.

Our selection of fresh loose seed blends has been specially prepared to account for the nutritional requirements of birds in our Canadian climate and as we like to say, “Cardinals are red, Blue Jays are blue and all the best seed comes from Gilligallou.”

Chocolate is our passion and our craft. The more we make it, the better we appreciate that there are no shortcuts, easy fixes or workarounds. It’s hard, creative work that’s so worth the effort. Each bar tells a story of place and people in a most delicious way.

  • Seeded Memories

At Seeded Memories, our mission is to eliminate celebration waste and start a business that is about human (and pet) connection. We create greeting cards made with our signature seed paper and illustrations, so you are able to plant our cards to grow non-invasive wild flowers!
Seed paper is made with recycled paper that has been re-pulped and wildflower seeds are embedded within, making it 'plantable'. We have built partnerships and a network within our Ottawa and Almonte community to collect recycled paper that we then use in our products.
We use non-invasive seeds which we have tested to find the fastest growing but more important, sustainable seeds so that you know our products are high-quality even at affordable prices.

What inspired us to start our business? It was our cat, Bruce. He was only 8 months old when he passed away from an unknown obstruction in his abdomen and we were devastated. Our friends knowing that our cats mean the world to us, sent us flowers and cards in sympathy.
As thoughtful as that was, the flowers died and the cards are tucked away in a box, never to be read again as it's to painful to do so.
After an evening of brainstorming, we thought what if we could combine the flowers and cards? We could plant the love letters from our friends in memory of Bruce. Thus, Seeded Memories was born! Plant the memories of loved ones, birthdays, marriage and have flowers pop-up every spring for you to admire.
